Pedro A. Sánchez named honoree of the 2021 Great Immigrants initiative
Pedro A. Sánchez, Ph.D., tropical soils research professor in the Soil and Water Sciences Department, has been named a 2021 Great Immigrants initiative honoree. Led by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the initiative honors the legacy of Andrew Carnegie, a Scottish immigrant, by recognizing a group of immigrants who have made notable contributions to the progress of American society. Sánchez was recognized for dedicating his career to eliminating world hunger and absolute rural poverty, and working to protect and enhance degraded soils in South America and Africa.
